The Music Manager is a key role responsible for the quality of our music clubs and professional performances. You will lead the team that delivers our lessons and ensure every session helps students thrive through music.
You are an active musician and educator with a strong background in live performance and a passion for developing young talent. You are a supportive leader who can mentor a team of coaches and manage the high standards required for professional gigs and young musician development.
Lesson Delivery: Lead the delivery of our music, careers, and personal development lessons to ensure they remain high-quality and student-focused
Team Support: Recruit, train, and support our team of band coaches to ensure they are using the best methods for engaging students
Venue Relationships: Work with professional venues like the Jazz Cafe and Camden Club to manage the equipment and sound requirements for our bands
Quality Control: Work with the MD to maintain the musical and technical quality of all our public performances
Student Feedback: Regularly listen to our students to make sure they have a clear say in how the charity develops
Experience in individual and group music teaching
Knowledge of equipment for stage and recording including common DAWs
Experience leading and designing creative workshops
Experience managing and working with teams
Band leader and teacher to lead extra curricular weekly band sessions in secondary schools
You are an accomplished educator and musician with experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds and especially in the area of bands and live music. You are motivated and reliable with excellent communication and organisational skills. You feel comfortable with groups of young people and are able to lead proactive, collaborative and well disciplined sessions. You will create an exciting, inclusive and engaging environment for learning.
Help young people with varied musical experience form, rehearse and perform in groups
Help facilitate choices on which repertoire to play including providing resources or demonstrating how to play parts
Demonstrate efficient, supportive and collaborative rehearsal technique and create a group dynamic where students feel engaged and able to collaborate
Prepare bands for live performance in and outside school
Share professional skills and knowledge to help students get the most out of all performance opportunities
Spot opportunities within groups of students and schools to compliment band activities
Lead goal and review sessions to demonstrate progress and put students at the centre of their own learning
Demonstrate how to progress and set up students for independent work
Have an awareness of the national curriculum for KS3/4/5 and areas of potential synergy
Experience in playing and arranging with multiple instruments and a track record of having performed extensively would be advantageous.
These entry-level roles are specifically for former INTRA students to work with us in technical, creative, or mentoring positions. This allows you to use the skills you learned with us in a professional, paid job and help lead the next generation of INTRA musicians.
Photography & Media: Capture high-quality photos and video at our live events to be shared with bands and used in our newsletters
Marketing & Promotion: Help promote our upcoming gigs and workshops across social media and within local schools to ensure we reach as many students as possible
Operational Responsibility: Assist the management team with event safety and check-ins, helping to ensure our "no permission, no entry" policy is followed so everyone stays safe.
Gig Support: Assist with sound and equipment set-up at professional venues like the Jazz Cafe and Camden Club during our live events
Student Mentoring: Work with current students to help them choose songs, arrange their music, and build their confidence on stage
Equipment Care: Help look after and repair the charity’s collection of guitars, amps, and drum kits
Leading Feedback: Help run student feedback sessions and Roundtables, acting as a link between current students and the management team

This is a freelance opportunity with hours agreed in advance of each project or workshop. Rates are competitive and commensurate to experience
